I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to every one if you have heard about the mix up in time for the litter pick on Sunday the 21st April 2013.

 

It was all my fault and no one else's. Not the council , not the council office, just mine.

 

I had arranged for it to start at 11 and finish at 1, but in my scatty brain, even though I had delivered and put up the leaflets all over the place , I did not read it., and thought that it started at 10.  So I turned up at ten to ten waited until 7 mins past,and decided that no one was going to come and that I would have to do it on my own.  So off I went  with my picker upper (not sure what they are called), dressed in my bright yellow jacket, and bags feeling like "Billy No Mates".   Have you got the picture.

 

About 45 mins later I met a couple who was walking down the lane, and they (now I know) said "I thought that it started at 11,"  I thought they said is it 11, (I am getting a bit deaf in my old age, and senile I can hear you saying) and replied its 10.40. They looked at me a bit odd, and I carried on walking up the lane. Now as I am talking to my self, (remember I was on my own)  I was thinking that was a random thing to say, THEN!!!!  a light came on in my brain, not a very bright one I might add, and I thought, oh S*** although I originally was going to start at 10 I think that I changed it to 11.  So I carried on until I found one of my leaflets and sure enough there it said in big bold numbers 11-1, by then it was about 12, so I made my way back after leaving a couple of bags of rubbish for the council to pick up at certain places that I would remember, arriving back at the council offices I did bump into Mr Thomson, who lives next to the offices and he did say that he was there at 11 and I was not, for which I offered my sincere apologies. He did say that there was another couple there also.

 

This morning the office rang to say that a Mr Phillips had rung to complain about no one being there, and that they had apologised to him.  I also rang him this morning, to apologise, and it turned out that him and his wife were the people walking down the lane and spoke to me saying "I THOUGHT THAT IT STARTED AT 11".  Any way he did say that it was just him,his wife and Mr Thomson, there.

 

BUT!!!! just in case you were there, and it had been your life long ambition to wear a council owned fluorescent jacket, and be able to waggle your stick at car drivers,  I am apologising,  YOU COULD SAY you were there, just to make me feel bad, and I would not know. But I am sure you would not do that.

 

If it is any consolation, My knee is twice the size of my other one  due to walking for three hours, and I have a blister on my thumb,  (serves you right I can hear you say) .

 

On the plus side I did save a runaway horse that had thrown its young rider, that was charging towards me, with the mother of the little girl running after it. No it was not the site of me in my jacket and stick that spooked it. OH!I also picked up three bags of rubbish.

 

Any way, as you can see I do go on, and on, and on.!!!!!

 

Tracy in the council office has said to me that she will remind me, of every date and time, the next time that I arrange something,  which reminds me that I am at Grumpies cafe, in Horndean precinct, this  Saturday 10 -12, 27th April 2013, if you have any concerns, well I think it is 10 -12,  No only joking, it is 10 -12.  Come and join me, so I will not be "Billy No Mates" again, any way even if you have not got any concerns you can sit and have a coffee and a lovely slice of cake, and laugh at my outsize knee, well it does go with my outsize body, but that is a another story.
