Safe Neighbourhood Team

The Police Safer Neighbourhood Team for the South of Butser cover the three parishes of Horndean, Clanfield and Rowlands Castle. The team consists currently of:

Police Community Support Officer Debbie Neesham

Police Community Support Officer Becky Veal

The team concentrates on high visibility patrols on bike and on foot to give reassurance to residents and deter crime and disorder. It also looks to tackle long term problems in the community be that a particular area having problems, a particular individual having repeated problems or a particular offender having a negative impact on the community. This is done within a multi-agency environment where we try and identify what each different agency can do to alleviate the problem, be that the Police, District or Parish Council, education, housing or any other group.

We are keen to involve residents in helping set our policing priorities so that we try and tackle the issues that are important to the community. We run Beat surgeries in the three parishes where members of the community can come and speak to us at set locations. This will be repeated every fourth Saturday throughout the year. For Horndean the Surgery will be outside of Morrisons from 2.30 and 4.30 pm.

The team run or support a number of community initiatives aimed at having a positive impact for residents. Our Countrywatch Scheme is aimed at reassuring Farmers and other working in or living within our rural communities. Junior PCSO's is a scheme we run at Horndean Technology College where we organise activities for 12-14 year olds to develop good citizenship. We have also worked with Hampshire County Council Trading Standards to introduce No Cold Calling zones to counter rogue traders and distraction burglars and hope to introduce new schemes to Horndean in the New Year.
